Passion with a Twist

I think I am in love – for the second time in the same person, which is strongly against my principles, so I guess this must be true love :-)

First time he caught my attention is approximately 3½ years ago and it left me almost catatonic for a month. Since then, we have only been flirting. But I’ve often thought about him and now I have finely taken the opportunity to revive our acquaintance – at least for a little while. I prefer small doses. He might have a limp, but he can still be a little hard to handle :)

Who he is???
Soeren Kierkegaard, of cause ;-)
Who did you think it was?

Soeren is – except from being an undeniable existentialistic genius – extremely funny and in his company it is impossible to feel sad about minor miscalculated emotions and inadvisable actions, when those were passionately based upon honesty and sincerity.

As an existentialist you are basically responsible for your own state of mind, whether you are happy or sad. No one but me is responsible for my happiness or sadness. If you choose to believe otherwise, you make yourself a participator in a manipulating power play, where you play for hollow self content, and illusionary guilt is the prime prize of the evening.

Actions cause reactions and as such we can wisely expect our existential choices to have consequential influence on our individual lives.

You see, that’s what I mean by Soeren being somewhat hard to handle in larger doses. You just cannot stay the same once you have intensely read Soeren Kierkegaard and with heartfelt passion tried to relate what you have read to your own individual existence, which is after all the one and only thing we actually can relate anything to.

So though I feel passionately uplifted and enlightened by reading his works, I really won’t recommend most people to get to deeply involved with this guy, unless they are prepared to loose some of their illusions ;-)

In short…

If you are happy: enjoy it. If you are sad: take responsibility and do something about it :-)
