Love Unlimited

First it was Jesus, then it was Vitus and now it is Casper.

My daughter Lærke is 6 years old and last year she fell deeply in love with the boy that played Jesus in the children’s Christmas television series. Every time she saw a TV-commercial featuring 15-year-old "Jesus" with his boy band, she looked as if an angel had entered the room.

Then for a period it was 6-year-old “Big Vitus” from the other group of children in the kindergarten. But that quickly faded when Casper came along.

Since august 20-year-old Casper has been working as a nursery assistant in the kindergarten and for all this time my daughter has been in love. Really.

She absolutely will not shake hand to say hello or goodbye to the other caretakers, but with Casper, she shouts for his attention and runs to take his hand.

Today when he suddenly entered the bus, the stars rose in her eyes, a beautiful smile brightened her face and she spun around herself and almost ran to sit next to him. Almost.

At last she decided to stay and hold hands with her mother, but when we had to get of, she made sure to catch his eyes, to smile and wave him goodbye.

What a generous gift it is to be able to fall in love and have this childlike, naive and trustful approach towards another human.

I hope she keeps that gift with her throughout her life.

I hope I keep it throughout my life – I just don’t hope I look as goofy :-)
